Boxers are forgiving, but “roughly my waist” still goes wrong surprisingly often. Here’s how to measure once and order right every time.
Measure your natural waist
Wrap a tape where your boxers will actually sit. Just below the navel, where the trousers usually rest. Snug but not tight. Note the number in inches or centimetres.
Match it to the chart
Every Whats Down product page has a size guide with waist ranges for S, M, L and XL in both inches and cm. The inner elastic gives you a couple of inches of stretch either way, so land in the middle of a range if you can.
Between sizes?
Go one up if you mostly lounge and sleep in them. More room in the leg, a softer hold at the waist. Stay true to size if you want them snug under jeans or for the gym.
Why it matters
All our sales are final (innerwear, hygiene), so two minutes with a tape saves a lot of regret. Still unsure? Message us with your waist measurement and we’ll tell you.

Quick answers
How should I wash them?
Cold, with similar colours, inside out, line dry. Hand or machine: both are fine.
Are these underwear or shorts?
Both. The inner elastic, back pocket and woven cotton poplin mean they pass as shorts out of the house; the relaxed cut means they sit flat under trousers.
